Hadassah Magazine and jGirls+ are sponsoring their fifth annual teen essay contest for girls, young women and non-binary teens, offering a $300 prize and along with publication in both Hadassah and online jGirls+ magazines. This year’s contest topic is writers’ Jewish experiences, identity and plans since the Oct. 7 attacks. The deadline is Dec. 19, 2024.
Here are the description and the writing prompt:
With the terror attacks of Oct. 7, the subsequent wars, internal communal divisions, and a rise in antisemitism in the United States and beyond, this past year-plus has been a challenging one for Jews.
With that in mind, Hadassah Magazine and jGirls+ Magazine, an online publication by and for self-identifying Jewish girls, young women and non-binary teens, invites you to submit to our fifth annual teen essay contest, which this year asks:
How has your experience since Oct. 7 changed the way you think about and express your Jewish identity? How has this past year shaped your view of the future and where you are headed?
Deadline is Dec. 19. The winner will receive a $300 educational scholarship, and the winning essay will be published in Hadassah Magazine, one of the largest-circulation Jewish media outlets in the country, and in jGirls+ Magazine’s online publication.
